Reflections on my speaking debut

In looking through the photos from my speaking debut on 11th May 2023, I can see that I have this ridiculous, ecstatic smile on my face...in every single photo! Yeah I was on a bit of a HIGH that night.  

It’s because I was receiving such incredible feedback from everyone there, that I could not help but smile. I managed to touch, inspire, empower and entertain the entire room of 100+!  Men and women!  

For many years now, I've been wanting to step onto a stage, any stage, big or small, to share my story of triumph over adversity. I knew there were young women and mature women (many whom I've met personally) who are crippled with fear, low self-worth, and struggling to heal and I felt such a strong need to help each one of them, all of them. To show them that they are beautiful, that they are worthy, that they are loved.  

I wanted to inspire and empower these beautiful women, to encourage them to pursue their dreams despite their traumatic history. I felt so strongly about this that in May last year, I decided to sign up for a professional speaking programme.   I have dedicated this past year to the study of public speaking under the guidance of Jacqueline Nagle CSP, founder of Any Given Tuesday.

I've been focused on learning, building my confidence, writing and re-writing my keynote speech, and shaping, polishing, and strengthening my story-telling ability, in preparation to be the catalyst that these women need and deserve!  
And on the night of 11th May 2023, I delivered my keynote for the first time to a STANDING OVATION!
